We always find our past quite fascinating, complain to our present with equal intensity and are certainly quite uncertain about our future, all at the same time, generally. Life's biggest problem with us is its inability to make us live in the present. Though, not always true, I bet 'most' of us have very severe complaints about our present and some 'out of the world' dreamy wishes for the future.Having said all this, in no way suggest that we should stop appreciating the power of dreaming! But only if we start appreciating the power of living in present, will make us apprehend the true value of dreams.
Past do have some other kind of implications too!Haven't we all had people in our lives who leave behind a faint sense of dissatisfaction for not having truly spoken to them about everything that mattered? Haven't we all had at least one person in our lives who we don't even know properly but have always had the feeling that we would have been good friends, if either of you had only taken the pain to let go of the ego and extend that hand? Haven't we all had that one boy/girl whom we truly liked only to be hesitant enough to have gone some steps to share some words that really mattered? That, someone has misunderstood us grossly in the past before parting our ways? Small 'left-behind' things in life abrades us for sure!
Life would have been much different for us if those 'ifs' of the past were a reality and the 'buts' never prevailed.Who knows whether the same person, who demanded the major amount of courage out to us, to go and talk to him/her, might have been our best buddy. Who knows if going a little extra mile, could have eroded all the dissatisfaction of the past when it still haunts us in the present.
It hurts seeing someone taking that place in someone's life which could be yours. It pains seeing the flashback of your life with your character being played by someone else. For the only wrong that we did, was not to live in the moment when things could have got better. For not sensing the future when we were into the past. For not really 'living into the present' to see a beautiful future. For who knows.. the roads rejected could have taken us to an entirely different and beautiful destination!
"Wish I could be in the past
To change the things that didn't last
To sequel the movie of life, misdirected
To travel the roads I rejected..!! :-) :-) "
true!!
ReplyDeleteYa Rahul you are absolutely true..
ReplyDeleteBut that's probably the best thing, or else every thing out here would have been so meaningless and hopeless. Rethink what will happen we all really start living in the moment? every one would seem perfect- NO demands, no regrets, no expectations, no joy, no sorrow, just still and calm.. no emotions.. Isn't it?
And thus every thing will loose its beauty and meaning.. "There's no beauty without a flaw."
